Chinese Communist Party Official Says Cambodia-China Partnership Sets Good Example

PHNOM PENH: According to Shu Qiming, former Deputy Secretary General of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the leadership of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Chinese President Xi Jinping has strengthened relations between the two countries and their bilateral cooperation has served as a model for partnerships of countries with different political regimes.

During a meeting with the Vice-President of the National Assembly, Khuon Sodary, on 28 March 2023, Mr. Shu expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Sen for his openness in supporting China based on historical accuracy and justice. The Chinese delegation also expressed its support for Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Cambodian People's Party and for the next generation of leaders, which it hopes will lead the Kingdom for a long time. Mr. Shu praised Prime Minister Hun Sen for his strong leadership that has enabled Cambodia’s progress in all fields, including strengthening the country’s position on the global stage and gaining the trust of the people. He believes that the CPP will lead the country into further prosperity, peace and development.

He also stated that the Chinese delegation’s visit was intended to implement important initiatives between the two countries and to present information on the outcome of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China in order to share new developments and ideas of party and state leadership.

Ms. Sodary greatly appreciated the visit, which serves to further promote the “iron-clad” friendship and cooperation between the two nations that has existed for so long. She thanked the Chinese for their role in helping turn Cambodia from a killing field engaged in chronic war to the land of peace, security and beautiful development that it is today.
